It's been a month or more since i've blogged an entry. Been really busy. For the past month a lot of projects were due in and out of school. And one of the projects I've done out of school is this video we did for our Production called "Big Blue Book". Im really proud of how it turned out. I've been thinking about this concept a long long time before I pitched it to my friend and headmaster of BBB, Carlo Lee nights before the track day. And I'm really happy that we made it happen. Props to Carlo for doing half of the work in post-processing and making me part of Big Blue Book so I can make good use of the extensive equipment he invested in. Props also to Kats Catabran for some of the footage and to JP Pacres and Ray Menchavez for some useful insights when we were editing. And last but not the least, Ge Garage for holding such events and giving us material to work with. enjoy!

Grabbed this photo from speedhunters. Even with the help from neighboring countries, things are still pretty bad in Japan. We can just hope and pray for a fast recovery. Come to think of it, that could've been one of us. Driving home from the tuner shop, happy, then out of nowhere, tsunami. You could tell from the Volk Se37's and Project MU rotors that the owner was once ballin'. Prayers go out to you bradda.

Watched the federal autocross series this afternoon at filinvest alabang. Nice to finally see how this sport has grown since I first tried it back in 2006. I think this is grassroots racing at it's best. It's a true test of the car and driver's abilities. Only took a few shots kinda lazy to move around. lol.

So my car has taken some time to rehabilitate, but i can't complain since it was entirely my fault why it had to be. For the last month my car has received a full facelift along with the initial repairs. Progress has been good and with the change of theme I may just be on the right track to driving hard(but safe.lol.) again.

Happy new year! A new year means a fresh start. And I really need it cause last Christmas eve I hit a major speedbump. My very first accident. I'm not going to expound on this but all i can say is that it was careless driving, no excuses. The shop's working to get the car rollin' out on time and hopefully it would still drive the same way. Also got new parts from Thailand which I will save for the next posts. Again,Happy New Year! Dopegarage is back and I promise this year will be better. Finally got my brand new tires at Bridgestone as an early christmas present from my mom. Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin Re001. Went with wider tires this time. I'm now running 235/40/18's. So far I've noticed a great difference in handling. The car turns easier now without rubbing! Thanks to Carlo Lee for a great deal! and the Bridgestone crew for a great job on my alignment!

Anyway too much has been said about that trackday. Most of the day was spent racing and little time was spent for coverage. Enough chatter here are the pics!

My car received a facelift yesterday. Sold my mugen dominator for 2010 MMC bumpers and grill. I guess I felt guilty about putting the car through its paces at the track with its full mugen trim so I decided to ditch the big bodykit set up and go where function and form meet. Stay tuned for what's coming up, I'm going crazy on this new setup.

sidenote, haven't posted up pics from auto salon and ecw yet but it's coming up shortly.

Last weekend I put together a shoot for my friends in school as a part of my portfolio in my photography subject. The shots turned out great though i think i'm still a long way when it comes to technical lighting. My prof said I should've bounced off the softboxes through the white walls of the parking lot. It would've made for a greater effect. Oh well, first time's for the learning the second time's for the earning. LOL! I would like to thank my bromies from CSB function/form crew. Let's do this again soon!

Last friday was another day for the infamous JDMU yabangan nights. Took us 3 hours to get to greenhills. It was friday night chaos at edsa! But the turnout of great cars and great people made it all worth the stress. Always fun hanging out and meeting new people in the JDM scene.

I finally got the million dollar shot I've been aiming for ever since I picked up my first car magazine. It's the effect that made publishers like hondatuning famous. The motion-blur. I've always liked how photographers capture the speed of cars in picture. The idea is to show how fast the car is even if it's not moving. I think it's brilliant and that's why I've always tried to emulate this idea. In our recent photography class, our professor showed us how to do just that.

Yesterday, my friend Luigi and I randomly went to Bridgestone to visit our friend Carlo. When we got there two of our friends Tin and Lester were there as well. So we basically hungout the whole night, much chatter and food were shared. We watched BMI and played Forza 3.(Aaron was killing it at the downhill drifting FF's. WTF.)

I always love hanging out and getting stuff done at Bridgestone. People there are just polite and productive. The tools are A-grade and the place is absolutely spotless. Just world class excellence.

Grand Metro Auto Fest '10

Last saturday was the grand metro auto fest '10. It was a good and well thought out event. Awesome venue, nice cars, good food and a good turnout of people. There was an excellent lineup of events as well. Anyway onto some visuals!

First off, my buddy Yeoj's Mazda 3. This car is sponsored by our shop Tads Autosport and Dupont. Didn't win that day but what can i say? You win some, you lose some.

This Mugen RR kitted FD had the biggest display area in the event. It flaunted so hard it seemed like a transhow display. One thing I didn't like about this car though, it had a sound system. Don't get me wrong, I'm into mobile media just not into cars fitted with lots of aftermarket goodies. This thing should be built for the track, in my opinion. But then again, to each his own.

If i was rocking type r bumpers, that's how it'd look like. Those J's racing airducts just make it perfect. Although i'm not diggin' the grill. I'd probably stick to the stock type r grill.

Last friday was a blasted day for me. It was a holiday and I woke up retardedly early just so I can fit all the things I had to do in one jampacked day. I had to redo the sticker design for the shop(cause of the effed up thing that you can't put jpeg images through the cutter!) there was non-stop back and forth chatting between me and our shirt supplier trying to get shit done and there was a tremendous checklist to be done on our GMAF entry car. Although I did get a kick in doing all these things and it felt like working on cars and designs was just an excuse to feel worked up. LOL. Anyway the day itself turned out great. I got all the shit done, cars prepped and cleaned, and even had the time to realign my bumpers(yes!). And in the back of my mind, I was counting the hours until it's time for our usual friday night JDMU gathering(the infamous yabangan nights).

I always look forward to hanging out with this fine group of individuals simply because we share the same passion and outlook towards our cars. We don't want too much shit going on and performance is of utmost importance. As the JDMU saying goes, "leave rice on the table." Another cause of the jitters was the speed testing that happened after the hang out. I've never watched drag racing before except for some occasional run the light speeding i encountered. But the legit, ungodly hour drag racing, I haven't experienced. So after hanging out at krispy kreme where much jokes and stories were shared,(cause the neon never lit up!) we headed to White Plains where I guess most of these races occur. We got there around 12 and the boys were heating up their tires. After a few burnouts and a couple cars speeding, I didn't see much action anymore so I left early and headed home(I didn't know it starts around 2 or 3. LOL.) nuff talk. enjoy the pics!

So since the show was in ortigas, we took advantage of the location and got a carwash at one of the most notorious detailing shops here in the Philippines, Big Bert's.

Last sunday was a horrible day for a trackday. A mix of dry and wet road was what we had to deal with. It rained for some time then stopped for awhile then rained again then stopped and the cycle went on till the late afternoon. Around 3pm, the sun started shining just enough to give us a dry track. Which meant better laptimes. I was pretty happy with the results considering my brakepads were giving out. My best times were 1.00.18 dry and 1.02.53 wet. Mad props to my friend JP for teaching me the lines, the braking points, entry speeds and all the stuff i needed to know to run a good lap at subic. Anyway enough talk, time for some eye candy.

Hit two birds with one stone last weekend. My friend Jackie and I went to both subic and clark trackday events. I'll divide the photos into two different posts so it's not confusing. First.. Subic International Raceway's last lap event. After years of providing grounds for Philippine motorsports, SIR bids us goodbye with an exit that sums up all its racing heritage throughout its golden years. A day filled with exciting races from different clubs and teams that have been part of this heritage. Props to Stephan Ramirez for showing us around. Sorry for posting just now we just moved into a new house no net yet. I had to get all the fucking wifi i can get in school.

Worst thing about the car scene is when you can't approach people because they think their shit's golden. A very clever quote i picked up while reading this blog: http://www.downshiftezine.blogspot.com/ props to matyi for this sad truism. It made me realize the lessons i've learned SO FAR over the past few years i've been exposed to motorsports and car tuning. Btw I'm just 21 for those of you who don't know. Anyway before you scrutineers go through the hassle of criticizing my blog, i'd like to spit some words about my "little" history in motorsports.

During the 90's, an era where motorsports and car tuning here were at the top of their game, my dad worked as the events manager for Marlboro Adventure Team.(sidenote; back then advertising cigarettes was allowed) Marlboro had everything; from wheel to wheel events, Formula3, Karting, Offroad events, motocross and the list goes on. So if you haven't already guessed, I was at the tracks kickin' it at an early age. Back then i was so scared of the loud throaty idle noise the racecars produced, that even taking pictures beside them was a pain. Staying in the pits was a nightmare to me. But by just being there sparked something in me. The smell of the avgas and the loud exhaust notes from honda civic eg's and nissan super saloons eventually grew on me. I remember when dad and tito johnny(BRC) would bring my brother and I up to the room on the second floor of the paddock to get a bird's eyeview of the track; or maybe just to get us out of their way. lol. Regardless, for me, it was utopia.

Years later I would eventually find myself in the cockpit of my own racecar in the form of a Zakspeed Ford Escort rs2000 competing in the national autocross series. I was fortunate enough to bring home a 1st runner up trophy which was good enough for me, considering the level of competition that ranged from pro-circuit to pro-rally drivers. During that period of time, my dad and i were also working on another project car(a 4g63 transplanted lancer boxtype) which supposedly was for autocross and hillclimb rally. But it never made it there due to constant malfunction of the fuel pump. Eventually we ran out of time and funds for the car so we had to let it go.(old school cars are hard to maintain and the economic slowdown made it impossible to freakin race!) I've learned a lot from that experience nonetheless; from sourcing out parts, making nifty ways to squeeze the engine to that tight bay, spending loads of time on tuning the engine(we had a good number of boxes until we finally got one from an evo3 to work) but from all the things I've learned here, the greatest life lesson I could take from that, was the amount of time I spent with my old man. It was definitely worthwhile. I would never trade it for anything in the world(not even for j's racing's fd2r unless someone who has divine power can hear me. kidding.) Seriously though, it was fun and meaningful working with my dad. I thank him for getting me in the sport and teaching me how to build a car the right way. And to the fathers and sons out there who want to spend some quality time, try working on a project car together. I promise you you'll have a blast but dads make sure your pockets run deep. lol. Anyway back to the topic.

I guess from all those "little" experiences I saw what actual motorsports competition was like. It wasn't at all about bashing each other to get the podium spot, scrutinizing each other's setup, club vs club or big teams picking on the privateers. Amidst the tough competition and the shit-talking if there was any, there was camaraderie.(Yes i know its cliche goofballs!) Camaraderie is goodwill and lighthearted rapport between friends or competitors. I know I still have a long way to go for someone writing blogs about cars. And some of you are probably hatin' already. I mean it's true, you can't please everyone. But i know what this blog is for. It's to promote a sense of openness among car enthusiasts all over our community. Yes it's a long shot from making all the haters shut the hell up. But it's better than doing nothing. Oh and contrary to popular belief that respect is earned, here it should be given. No matter what club, team or shop you're reppin for. We all have one common goal. It's to produce the dopest cars the world has ever seen. Let's all appreciate! peace!-greasemonkey

Another dope ass vehicle right here owned by my close friend Yeoj Marquez. I never had the time to shoot this car since i rarely see my highschool friends cause of the damn busy schedule. Goodthing i was free this afternoon! Anyway great paint and body work done to this car. Paintjob by Tadz Autosport. Bodykits by A-toy bodykits. Sidenote, this is a Dupont sponsored vehicle. The stance is on an all time low besides the fact that it's running on tein s.tech springs which gives about a 1.5in kiss to the ground. Credits mostly to the deadening done, it cranked the car down significantly. Minimal editing done to the photos. Enjoy!
